There are so many ideas for cakes! Our grandchildren have a brightly illustrated book full of food and game ideas for birthday parties, sleep-overs, camp-outs, etc. Their mother enjoys baking and decorating, so you may be sure every special event at their house includes a special cake. Here are a few of her "masterpieces."
Butterflies ‡ Puppy Dogs ‡ Unicorns
The detail on this cake is exquisite. First the entire cake
is iced in white. Then the top half has been done with a basket
weave pattern. After writing the party girl's name in the white section,
pre-made flowers and butterflies are piled onto the center. Certainly, this
cake would thrill a little girl, and still be most suitable for any Spring
gathering of friends and family!

This adorable cake was created for a seven year old little girl, who just LOVES dogs!

is really quite simple. Icing requirements are minimal: white icing for the entire
cake, and a small amount of blue for the eyes and chocolate to create spots
around the nose area. Add some mini-Oreos and a few full size cookies to
create the spots. The red collar and tongue are made with red licorice
strips! A dab of blue icing, and a blue M&M create the eyes. Complete
the theme with two cupcakes decorated to look like paws. Enjoy!
